Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
